Experience

I was a Senior user experience designer at Ginkgo Bioworks. At Ginkgo I was responsible for designing scientific tools for the company’s synthetic biology workflows. My work centered around user research to find the largest value to our users and to decrease the time-on-task to create greater efficiencies for the company. I worked on various tools from a Strain lineage viewer, to Strain verification tools and most recently a tool to facilitate the execution of client driven scientific projects.

Previously I was the senior interaction designer on the Pattern and Cancer Data Science teams at the Broad Institute. I worked with teams across the institute to help communicate their research from building interactive data exploration tools, tools for gathering data for longitudinal clinical trials, scientific figures for research papers, and to creating public facing collateral to explain complex scientific concepts. I’ve designed across many disciplines from oncology, genomics, microbiomes and microbiology.

In my visual design life, I was the Art Director at Cell Press, where I established the art department and led the direction of many initiatives over the years pushing Cell Press to be a digital, data-driven publisher.
